Toby Bozzuto, CEO of the Bozzuto Group, and Edward St. John, of St. John Properties, have been selected to a national list of notable commercial real estate executives.
The Business Journals’ Influencers: Commercial Real Estate spotlights 100 executives making moves in the CRE space in cities across the country. The 100 individuals represent both large, nationally known firms and smaller, locally focused businesses. Some of their names, and their companies’ names, might be familiar to you; others you might be seeing for the first time.
Local influencers, Bozzuto and St. John, are hardly strangers to Baltimore Business Journal readers. The prolific developers have often been featured in the BBJ for their various projects over the years. Most recently, St. John was named the BBJ’s CEO of the Year, At the same awards ceremony on March 7, Bozzuto was honored as one of the BBJ’s Power 10 recipients.
These executives were identified in conjunction with editors and staff writers across The Business Journals’ network of more than 40 publications, including the Baltimore Business Journal. Each has been featured as part of The Business Journals’ continuing coverage of the newsmakers in those cities.
This is the second installment of The Business Journals’ Influencers series to spotlight commercial real estate executives. The 2018 edition published last spring.

Edward St. John has a succinct way of summing up his many decades in real estate development. “I play Monopoly with real money and real buildings,” he said. “I don’t work. I play Monopoly and that’s why I’m still here.” If that’s the case, the patriarch of St. John Properties has built a life-size game board of 20 million square feet of office, retail, warehouse, flex and residential properties in eight states worth more than $3 billion.
