BALTIMORE (January 27, 2010) – Edward A. St. John, Founder, President and CEO of St. John Properties, Inc., a full-service commercial real estate development firm formed in 1971, has been named the 2009 Corridor “Person of the Year” by Corridor, Inc. magazine. Past winners of the publication’s award include Richard Story, Executive Director of the Howard County Economic Development Authority; Col. Kenneth McCreedy, United States Army; and Larry Letow, COO of Convergence Technology Consulting.
The “Person of the Year” competition involves a two-part procedure in which finalists are nominated, followed by a month-long on-line voting process that is open to businesspeople and the general public. Other finalists for the 2009 award included Penny L. Cantwell, Fort Meade Alliance Education Chair; Donald C. Fry, President and CEO, Greater Baltimore Committee; Linda Greene, Executive Director, BWI Business Partnership; Karen Olscamp, CEO, Baltimore Washington Medical Center; and Mary Ann Scully, President and CEO, Howard Bank.
According to comments generated from the on-line voters, St. John was recognized as a savvy businessman who has built one of the largest and most successful commercial real estate companies in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. region, and has steered his firm through several economic recessions. He is also widely regarded for his philanthropic efforts, including the donation of 7.5 percent of the company’s annual net income to local schools and educational organizations.
